Each US employment-based visa (EB Visa) is unique, and it is important to know their differences when considering their options.
The Employment-Based Visa category (EB Visa) is broken up into five separate categories and 140,000 visas are issued each year. Each option is in high demand, however, they each have their own unique requirements. Which is the best option for you to consider? Let’s explore each option.
Employment-Based Visa options:
- EB-1 – Extraordinary abilities in certain sectors like science, education, arts, business, or athletics.
- EB-2 – Must have a US baccalaureate or foreign equivalent degree in any sciences, arts, or business.
- EB-3 – Split into three categories; skilled, professional, or unskilled workers. To be eligible for this, you must fit the required criteria; except for EB3 Unskilled, which requires no previous skills, education, or experience.
- EB-4 – “Special immigrants” which include members of the US armed forces, Afghan or Iraqi translators, certain physicians, or religious workers.
- EB-5 – Individuals must make a minimum capital investment of either $800,000 or $1,050,000 to a US business entity, making it an incredibly expensive option.
Each of the employment-based visa options paves the way toward permanent residency in the United States. However, the most accessible option is likely the EB3 Unskilled Visa. EB3 Unskilled requires no previous education, experience, or training, and therefore most qualify. The US Workforce is facing a historic labor shortage, making this option more viable than ever. See our recent post on EB3 Unskilled requirements for more details.
